Welcome!
"Girls Speak Up! Conversations with young women about critical issues in their lives" is the most recent publication of the UNH Center on Adolescence. Funded though the Endowment for Health and an Outreach Scholarship Fund from the UNH Vice President for Research and Public Service, Girls Speak Up! reports on the major themes shared by the girls and young women who participated in "listening sessions" around the state. Center staff has presented the findings of the report locally and will be presenting nationally at the Society for Research on Adolescence meeting in Chicago in March, 2008. Click on the links above to download the report or contact us to receive a print version. The Center’s current research activities continue to focus on the health and well being of girls and young women, youth suicide prevention, stigma reduction, and health issues for youth aged 18 to 24. Over the past year, Center staff has presented the results of these projects nationally at the Society for Adolescent Medicine, and the American Association for Suicidality conferences. You can find our fact sheets on related topics, as well as a white paper on Positive Youth Development, in the Critical Issues pull down menu above, or the Quick Links to the right. Look for upcoming fact sheets on adolescent brain development and teenage drinking. The UNH Center on Adolescence is committed to working collaboratively with others dedicated to supporting adolescents and helping youth make a successful transition to adulthood. Last Update: December 3, 2007
